Spring Break 08!

We headed to Texas this year for our first real Spring Break. And I hope the first of many more to come. We had a B.L.A.S.T. with the kids visiting Nana & Papa at South Llano River State Park. We had lots of adventures and the kids were always on Litter Patrol. Especially Sydney, she was the Princess of Litter Control. Nana, you know you're The Queen.

We enjoyed some great weather, some wet weather, some cold weather, some hot weather, and of course, the obligatory Tornado watch. We all survived & the park got their first inch of rain since August 2007.

We hiked with the kids - they're troopers. Boy, those hills are bigger than they look. We hunted for Pecans in the river bottom, and threw rocks into the river.

This is Charlie's favorite way to hike!

Thanks, Nana & Papa! Bye, Texas.

Tile!

This is it! The tile that is now in our mudroom. It's big, it's beautiful, and boy did it take some muscle and time. 18" x 18" ceramic tile in a beautiful pattern and shade that I picked up for a heck of a deal back in October.

This is the plywood mudroom floor that we've lived with since we moved into the house. It's been 8 months and it's time get it covered. Spring will be here soon & we know what a mess we'll have after the kids find some mud puddles....this tile floor is going to be just the ticket!
And this is what the floor looks like right now. It will need some grout, but I'm waiting until the weekend. These are extra big tiles & we want the thinset to be completely cured before the grouting starts.

And here is the sun room floor (BEFORE) Yes, those are bricks and some concrete in the center. According to a couple of neighbors, there was a tiny indoor water feature here at one time. The floor was terribly out of level so...

We poured some self-levelling stuff in there. And that stuff works great. In this picture, it looks like a water feature. It's just wet. We're also giving this the recommended 6-7 days curing time before we lay our slate (ceramic) tile on top. It's looking great!
And our hero of the day, Chase, cutting the tiles on the wetsaw that we borrowed. And the slicker kept him nice and dry.

Spring Break is Coming

Ice, Snow, Sleet, More Ice, More Snow....I'm done!
Get us out of this cold!

It's settled & agreed to - we're travelling to Texas to go camping in the state park with mom & dad (nana & papa) during Sydney's spring break!

And I'm hoping for HOT weather!
