Timberlake - Day 4

Last night was cook-out night at Camp Timberlake. It is a night that we go to our cabin and fire ring and we are there all night building the fire, cooking dinner and s'mores, and playing games. I think the s'mores part was the favorite.

And that was the last night. I'm grateful to have been able to get to know this fun group of girls. It's not often that I get to duck out of my life for a week to be with my daughter. Sydney loved it, too.

Camp Timberlake: Day 2

Troop 2B has been very busy at Camp Timberlake. Everyday they learn new, useful things. Yesterday, they erected their own emergency shelter using 2 trees, a rope, a tarp, and some rocks. Behold:

The shelter could hold almost the entire unit. Way to go, girl scouts!

Three Monkeys in a Tree

We had a lovely Saturday evening at the park. We needed to burn off a little more energy at the end of the day - and the weather was perfect - why not?

And these guys decided to all find a high perch in this tree. I think this may be the start of their love of tree-climbing.

Texas

Sydney & I are back home safely after our big adventure to Houston. It was sooo much fun. We got to see just about everybody. Really. That's the best part. And Tamara's about to pop. Literally. That baby could come just anytime. She's excited and nervous, and the air is charged with power of everyone waiting for the big event. Wow! It really was great to be all together for three whole days.
We had some girlie time, too. Mom & Tamara & Sydney & I went for pedicures together and we had a nice lunch out on Friday. And the weather was lovely!

Mother's day was big for us. We got all packed up and ready to leave early and gave ourselves a bit of time to swing by Ikea on the way to the airport. An hour at Ikea isn't enough and if you've been without an Ikea shopping trip for 10 years like me, it's REALLY not enough time. I was a kid in a candy store. If I had more space in the suitcase, it would have been easier. Oh well. It's a great place to shop, but I've noticed that their products are more often sporting the 'Made in China' stamp that I see on everything. And they've proudly posted that their 2008 prices are lower than their 2007 prices. Hmmm...wonder why. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the goofy-named products they have - all of them. LOVE IT!

And how did Sydney enjoy the flight? She's a great traveller, who knew?! I know where she gets that from. When the plane lifted off, she just giggled & giggled & threw up her arms. It was the best thrill ride ever!
